Itinerary

Upon arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you will be greeted by a representative from the Alpine Club of Himalaya who will drop you off at your hotel. After check-in, you can freshen up or stroll around the streets of Thamel, a tourist hub in Kathmandu.

In the evening, attend a welcome dinner hosted by the Alpine Club of Himalaya where you will be served excellent authentic Nepalese cuisine which will introduce you to our food culture.

Today, you’ll head on an hour’s drive to Sundarijal, a nearby location to the valley and the starting point of your trek. From Sundarijal, trek to Chisopani which is located at an elevation of 2,300 meters. Begin the trek along with a small hydroelectric plant. The trail enters through the Shivapuri National Park. The first settlement that will come across is Mulkhara mostly inhabited by the Tamang people. Then walk along the ridge through a forest of oaks and rhododendron to Chisopani.

After breakfast, head towards Gul Bhanjyang. Today’s trek starts with a hard descent crossing meadows and lush agricultural fields. As you progress on you will reach Pati Bhanjyang perched at an altitude of 1,768 meters. Along the trail enjoy the magnificent views of the Langtang range.

Thereafter traversing across deep wilderness cross the villages of Thakuni Bhanjyang, Chibling, and Jhogin Danda Ridge. Next following the ridge section with extraordinary views of the surrounding finally reach Gul Bhanjyang.

Start the trek following the high steep trail mostly through fir and rhododendron forests where there are no permanent settlements. Along this section witness the grand views of the snowcapped peaks of Helambu Valley. Next, the trek continues to Yurin Danda with magnificent views of the landscapes around followed by a stroll across the lush wilderness of the region. As you progress out of the wilderness you will eventually arrive at Thadepati.

Wake up before dawn and head towards any vantage point and witness the splendid views of the sun sinning. After breakfast start the trek following the downhill trails to the river network. Next following the ascending routes reach the settlement of Nakota.

From Nakota follow the descending trail and again head on an uphill section and reach Tarke Ghyang. After a brief rest head out to explore the village and also visit the monasteries of the region. Later relax enjoying the views of the sun setting.

Wake up early and after breakfast head towards the Ama Yangri. The hike takes you following ridges and High Mountain trails across rugged and dusty trails. Upon reaching the top of
Ama Yangri, soak in the mesmerizing views of the landscapes around. Witness snowcapped ranges including Mount Everest, Manaslu, Langtang, Dorje Lakpa, Gauri Shankar, Annapurna ranges, and rock mountains and rolling lush hills.

After spending time at the summit witnessing grand views of the topography retrace your steps back to Tarke Ghyang.

After breakfast, start the trek following the downhill trails. As you descend the landscape changes and you will be following trails across the lush wilderness of the region. Along the way keep an eye out as you may witness the rich biodiversity of the region. Upon reaching Sermathang relax for a while and later head out to explore the region. Also, visit the monasteries around and witness the monks chanting the prayers and performing rituals. Later relax on the porch of your hotel and witness the glorious sunset.

On the final day of your trek, following the routes across the deep wilderness and agricultural belts walk down to Melamchi Pul Bazaar. From the Bazaar, head towards Katmandu.

After reaching Kathmandu you may head on a guided tour of the city or stroll on your own. Later in the evening attend a special farewell dinner program to celebrate the successful completion of your trekking.

Travel Insurance for the Trek

All clients participating in any activity must have travel insurance. Personal injury, death, hospital expenditures, repatriation fees, and helicopter rescue. Any other disease covered by the insurance plan will be given. We highly advise you to acquire a comprehensive insurance plan from a trustworthy insurance company.

Passport and Visa Requirements

Every client must have a valid passport from the return date with a 6 month prior validity by the Nepalese consulate in your country or the immigration office at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu.

Meals and drinking water during trek

Along this region, you’ll be provided with various Nepali, and Tibetan ethnic cuisines and varieties of western meals to choose from. The region has several tea-house every hour so typically run by local inhabitants providing basic and minimal facilities. Try various traditional cuisine and popular snacks including locally made dairy items such as cheese, Churpi, and milk-based delicacies and baked items. Also try Sea buckthorn juice, a Himalayan delicacy.

Similarly, drinking water taps are accessible with natural water supplies which are untreated, so direct use of the water is not recommended, you may refill boiling water or cold filter water from any of the teahouses. However, if you buy a water purification tablet, chlorine drops or utilize SODIS (sunlight assisted) filtration procedures for further assurance, saving money, and reducing plastic pollution.

Accommodation during trek

Local accommodations are available in trekking lodges and teahouses which are located all along the trail every hour or so, providing basic accommodation, food, and electricity. The room mostly includes twin sharing beds as well as a single bed, with a hygienic and clean atmosphere and good mattresses which reduce your backpack weight. The accommodation usually has a central heating system used by firewood located in dining rooms, providing heat and space for travelers to rest and exchange their stories. Campsites are also available along the trail providing a special opportunity for the campers.

Best Time to Visit for Ama Yangri Trek

The best season for trekking in the region is during the season of autumn and spring.

The months of September, October, November, March, April, and May are the best time to visit.

These months are better in terms of visibility and climate conditions providing good conditions for exploring the high mountain terrains.

During the autumn season, the months of September, October, and November bring clear weather with great visibility and warm temperatures providing a perfect opportunity to trek on high Himalayan terrains.

The spring season of March, April, and May is also the best time to visit Langtang Valley, the end of winter brings a change in the topography of the region with varieties of lush blooming trees of Rhododendron, the mixture of Confers, Oaks with Orchids and ferns with high pasture lands covered with colorful wildflowers with mild temperatures and clear weather.

Monsoon season is not favorable as the weather gets harsh and it’s hard to get around the country, so monsoon season is mostly avoided by trekkers.

In the winter season, the area receives high snowfall, covering most of the trail and access is denied to most of the regions making it quite impossible to trek to higher grounds.
