Starting of Our Tour

Everest Base Camp Trek and Fly Back By Helicopter starts with a scenic flight from Kathmandu towards the tiny hilltop settlement of Lukla. From Lukla, trekking across sub-tropical woodlands you will reach Namche Bazaar.  The economic hub where you will be finding various amenities from basic to grandeur ones. After an acclimation hike at Namche Bazaar. The following day trekking along a high traversing route to reach the village of Tengboche. Here explore the ancient Tengboche Monastery, nestled at an elevation of 3867 meters surrounded by dwarf firs and rhododendrons on the backdrop of snowy mountains. Eventually, follow the Imja Khola and continue to the villages of Pangboche and Pheriche before finally approaching the Khumbu Glacier. Following the moraines, you will reach the village of Lobuche. The next day you will be heading uphill to Gorakshep and finally to Everest Base Camp.

Views of greater Himalayan Range

At the base camp bask in the views of the greater Himalayan range and soak in the energy of the highest peaks of the world. The next day head towards Kala Patthar, a renowned vantage point of the region nestled at an elevation of 5545 meters. From the summit witness a different perspective of the region. The grand views of Everest, Nuptse, Changtse, the northern flank of Lhotse, Khumbu glacier, icefalls, and endless other mountain peaks of the Mahalangur Range at its grandeur are mesmerizing. After scaling Kala Patthar head back to Gorak Shep and fly back towards Lukla.

The helicopter ride provides you with a different perspective of the region. Flying parallel to the snowy mountains. Witness views of icefalls, lakes, glaciers, and settlements that you have been trekking for the past few days. Upon reaching Lukla celebrate your success of the trek and the next day head towards Kathmandu. Join in this specially made package with us at the Alpine Club of Himalaya.

Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you will be greeted by a representative from Alpine Club of Himalaya who will drop you off at our hotel. After checking in, you take a rest or stroll around the streets of Thamel, a tourist hub in Kathmandu. In the evening, join in for a welcome dinner hosted by the Alpine Club of Himalaya.

After breakfast heads towards the domestic airport and catches a flight towards Lukla. The flight is mesmerizing with views of deep green wilderness and snowy white peaks. Upon landing at Lukla airstrip and after a brief rest start your trek towards Phakding.
Traversing on gradually descending trails you will reach the Cheplung village. From here, get a glimpse of Mount Khumbila, a sacred mountain that has never been climbed making it few of the unclimbed peaks of the Khumbu region. Next following a descending trail you will reach the settlement of Phakding.

The first section of the trail takes you across the s deep wilderness of pine, cedar, and rhododendron. Following the forest trail, you will reach the Benkar Valley. From here cross the raging rapids of the Dudh Koshi River and the settlements of Chumoa and Monjo before reaching the entrance of the Sagarmatha National Park. After your permits are checked head on an uphill stretch towards Namche Bazaar with amazing views of the landscape. As you gain altitude witness the Everest peering over the Nuptse ridge. Ascending further, you will reach the iconic Namche Bazaar, the biggest town in the Everest region.

Today is your day for acclimatization, as you ascend higher, your body must acclimate to the thinner air at greater elevations. The village has various vantage points perfect for an acclimatization hike.
Head towards any vantage point before dawn and witness mesmerizing views of the sunrise over the Himalayas. The rays of the sun change the snowy white peak into various colors. Bask in the views of Mount Everest, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Kongde, Lhotse, and other mountain peaks.

After lunch head towards Thami a village located above the Bhote Khola River Valley. Traversing through the lush woodlands of the Sagarmatha National Park you will reach the National park headquarters above the village. From here witness panoramic views of the Mahalangur range and the mighty Everest. Explore the national park headquarters and learn about the Sherpa lifestyle, culture, and biodiversity of the region. After exploring the region head back towards Namche, along the way witness the grand views of dusk.

Today’s trek includes the famous descent to the Dudh-Koshi River and the equally famous ascent along the deep woodlands of rhododendron forests to Tengboche. While descending towards the Dudh Kish River, enjoy the views of snowcapped Mount Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Kongde, and endless other peaks.
Upon reaching Tengboche, visit Tengboche monastery, the largest monastery in the region nestled on the backdrops of Everest, Ama Dablam, and other peaks. Overnight in Tengboche.

Start by descending through forests filled with a variety of birch, conifer, and rhododendrons. Along wi the trail witness grand views of Mount Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam. As you progress the picturesque trail dips down towards Devuche. From here you will cross the Imja River and head toward Pangboche. Following the upper Pangboche trails witness a pristine view of the Greater Himalayas and the Pangboche Monastery. Next, follow the trail towards the Imja Valley, and upon crossing the Lobuche River begin your climb up to Dingboche.

Today is your second day of acclimatization, the village has various points ideal for acclimatization excursion.
Dingboche is a famous stop for trekkers and climbers headed to Mount Everest, Ama Dablam, or Imja Tse. The village is covered with fields enclosed by stone walls to protect barley, buckwheat, and potatoes from the cold wind and animals.
Head towards Nagarjun Hill or Chukhung Valley for great views of the landscape and the mountain peaks of Makalu, Lhotse, Chalotse, Tawache, and Ama Dablam. Not to miss are the views during dawn and dusk.

The first part of the trek takes you on a gradual climb to Duglha at the end of the terminal moraine of the Khumbu Glacier. From here, you will be traversing on high alpine terrain with loose rocks and steep trails. As you progress you will reach Chupki Lhara.
Next, following the rocky Khumbu Glacier moraine with views of Khumbutse, Lingtren, Pumori, and Mahalangur Himal you will eventually reach Lobuche.

Gorakshep

Today you will be heading towards the Everest Base Camp. The trek takes you following the tracks of the valley which runs parallel to Khumbu Glacier. Traversing on moraines of Changri Nup Glacier. Make a series of small ascents and descents over a rocky trail lined with cairns that eventually leads to the surprising glacial sands of Gorak Shep (5160 m) – reached after about three hours of walking.
Now’s the time to grab a quick bite, gear up appropriately, and then head off towards Everest Base Camp. Upon reaching Everest Base Camp witness views of snowcapped mountains, glaciers, lakes, caves, and the notorious Everest Ice Fall that flows from the West ( Mt. Everest is not visible from the base camp). After spending a brief time at the base camp head back towards Gorak Shep.

Today wake up before dawn and head towards the famous vantage point of the Khumbu region, Kala Patthar at an elevation of 5545 meters. Apart from the altitude, the climb is non-technical. Upon reaching the summit basking in the views of Everest, Pumori, Nuptse, Changtse, Ama Dablam, Taweche, Kantega, Lhotse, and even Everest base camp snuggled at the base of the Khumbu Ice Fall. After spending a brief time at the summit retrace your steps back to Gorak Shep.

Upon reaching Gorak Shep after a brief rest head on a helicopter ride back to Lukla. The flight gives you a different perspective of the region. Witness birds-eye views of the trails you have been traversing, glaciers, icefalls, and mountain ranges. Upon reaching Lukla head towards your accommodation. Later celebrate your last night in the mountains and the success of your trek.

Catch an early flight to Kathmandu after your long mountain journey. Upon reaching Kathmandu, rest or head out for souvenir shopping. If you want to explore any other areas of Kathmandu, you can do it today. Our guides can help you with both souvenir shopping and sightseeing. Later in the evening join in for a farewell dinner to celebrate the successful completion of your trek.

Is there a specific note that needs to be highlighted or addressed?

Your safety is of paramount importance to us at the Alpine Club of Himalaya. We have the absolute authority to cancel the trip or change the itinerary, when deemed necessary or when we have reason to believe your safety is at stake. Weather conditions, the health condition of a group member, natural disasters, and such, can contribute to changes in the itinerary when traveling in remote mountainous regions. In these extreme situations, we kindly request that you offer your full co-operation to the trusted leader of the group appointed by Alpine Club of Himalaya. However, we assure you that we will make every effort to keep to the above itinerary.

What are the necessary entry permits and requirements for the trek?

The Everest Base Camp Fly Back by Helicopter requires two permits:

1) Sagarmatha National Park Entry Permit.

2) Khumbu Rural Municipality Entrance Permit.

The Nepal Tourism Boards office in Kathmandu or the park’s entrance gate in Monjo can provide you with Sagarmatha National Park Entry Permit for NRS 3000.

The fee for citizens of SAARC nations is NRS 1500.

You must complete the permit application and present your passport or a copy of your passport. You must be in Lukla to obtain the Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality Entrance Permit. The permission costs NRS 2000 and may be acquired at the rural municipality counter on the outskirts of the settlement.

You will not have to worry about waiting for permits since the Alpine Club of  Himalaya or our guides will take care of everything.

What options are available for meals and drinking water during the trek?

Everest Region Trek is one of the most facilitated trekking destinations in the country, providing basic to luxury services.

Everest base camp fly back by Helicopter trial, you will be provided with a variety of cuisine to choose from. Nepali, Tibetan, Indian, western as well as continental meals. As the region has small tea houses to luxury hotels the facilities, provided are basic to grandeur according to budget.

Similarly, drinking water is accessible with natural water supplies which are untreated, so direct use of the water is not recommended, you may refill boiling water or cold filter water from any of the teahouses. However, if you buy a water purification tablet, chlorine drops, or utilize SODIS (sunlight assisted) filtration procedures for further assurance, saving money, and reducing plastic pollution.

What are the accommodation options during the trek?

Accommodations are available in trekking lodges, teahouses, and several hotels all along the trail, providing basic, well-maintained, reasonably luxury 5-star ones with additional needs according to your budget. Tea houses on the trail vary in quality and price, depending on the amenities they feature.

The tea houses room has twin sharing beds and some basic furniture like a table or a chair. Normally, beds contain pillows and sheets and almost all tea houses provide extra blankets as it will be freezing at night. Usually, hot showers are available throughout the trek.

For trekkers who want to Camp, various campsites are available along the trail.

When is the best time to visit?

The best season for trekking to the Everest region is during autumn and spring, the months of September, October, November, March, April, and May.

During the autumn season, the months of September, October, and November the weather is clear with warm temperatures and the visibility is great. As the weather is mild it is very easy to get around the region.

The months of March, April, and May constitute the prime spring season for visiting the Everest region. As winter concludes, the landscape transforms during spring, with vibrant rows of rhododendron, moss-draped trees, orchids, and colorful undergrowth spanning for miles. The backdrop is set by snow-capped mountain peaks against the canvas of clear blue skies.

Monsoon season is not favorable for trekking as the weather gets harsh and it is hard to get around the country with frequent landslides and floods. So usually, monsoon season is avoided by trekkers.

In the winter season, the area receives a high amount of snowfall, covering most of the trail, and access is denied to most of the regions of Everest, making it impossible to trek.

Common Breakfast During the trek:

During the trek, various tea houses provide a wide range of breakfasts. The most common breakfast includes Tibetan Bread (fried bread), Chapati (unleavened flatbread). The bread is provided with jam, butter or peanut butter, Scrambles, or boiled eggs, and vegetable curry.Corn Flakes, Pancakes, Oats, and Muesli are also available. In some of the tea houses, American breakfast is available. Hot drinks including black tea and coffee are available for breakfast. Also, you may find various freshly baked items.

Common Lunch during the trek:

Dhal Bhat (Nepalese traditional food) is the most common meal found along trekking houses. But various varieties of meals are also available. Thukpa (Noodles) soups, Momos ( dumplings), Macaroni, Fried rice, Pizza, Spaghetti, a variety of soups, steaks, potatoes items, Sandwiches, rice with curry, spring rolls, burgers. Plenty of dessert items are also available.

Common Dinner during the trek:

Dhal Bhat (Nepalese traditional food) is the most common dinner. But you can choose from a wide variety. Momos (dumplings), Thukpa (noodle) soups, Macaroni, Pizza, Spaghetti, Sherpa Stew, steaks, potatoes items, fried rice with curry, Raman soups, burgers, and are available along the tea houses.

Most of the tea houses’ menus offer desserts. Rice pudding, Apple pie, fruit snicker, cake, pastries, etc.

Extra personal expenses for trekking

During the period of trekking meals (Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner with hot drinks) are provided according to your package. Any other personal expenses are not bearded by the company. So, we recommended carrying extra cash just in case of personal expenses.

Responsible Tourism

As responsible for tourism we believe in respecting local communities, their culture, and rules. So, for that region, we would like you to follow some local rules and regulations during the trek.

Transportations on Trek

All the necessary transportation for your trip will be managed by the Alpine Club of Himalaya upon your request. Transportation is provided on private as well as sharing basis.

Last-Minute Booking Information:

Last-minute booking is available for interested travelers. Though travelers need to inform a day before the trip gets started. If you are making last-minute bookings, you should pay the total amount for the activity. Booking can be made through an online form, email, WhatsApp, or by direct call.

Last-minute bookings for Bhutan and Tibet trips are not available.
