Weather:

The weather in Tibet is characterized by its unique and extreme climatic conditions. Owing to its location on the Tibetan Plateau, also known as the "Roof of the World." The region’s high altitude and thin air create a cold and severe environment.

During winters, temperatures can plummet well below freezing, and snowfall is common, particularly in the higher elevations. Summers are brief and mild, with moderate to warm temperatures during the day and a significant drop in temperature at night. Given the high altitude, visitors must protect themselves from the sun’s strong UV radiation. Meals:

During your Tibet tour, you will have the opportunity to experience a diverse range of meals that reflect the unique culinary traditions of the region. In Tibet, you will have the chance to savor traditional Tibetan meals that are typically based on staple ingredients such as barley, yak meat, dairy products, and various vegetables. Tsampa, a roasted barley flour, is a common ingredient used in many Tibetan dishes and is often served as a staple food.

Yak meat, being a staple in Tibetan cuisine, is often incorporated into various dishes, including stews, soups, and Momos (Tibetan dumplings). These Momos are typically filled with a combination of minced yak meat, vegetables, and spices, and are served steamed or fried.

Dairy products also play a significant role in Tibetan cuisine. Yak butter tea, known as “po cha”, is a popular and traditional Tibetan beverage. It is made by churning tea with yak butter and salt, resulting in a rich and creamy flavor.

In addition to traditional Tibetan dishes, you may also find Chinese and Nepalese influences in the cuisine available during your Tibet tour. This can include a variety of dishes ranging from stir-fried vegetables and noodles to flavorful curries and spicy Sichuan-style dishes.

It’s important to note that while traveling in Tibet, the availability of certain ingredients and dining options may vary depending on the location and the nature of your tour. Vegetarian and dietary preferences can generally be accommodated, but it is recommended to inform in advance to ensure suitable arrangements. The meals usually range from 7 to 10 USD.

Visa Procedures for the Tour:

In order to facilitate a smooth and timely visa acquisition process, all participants are required to arrive in Kathmandu at least five official working days prior to the tour’s commencement. This timeframe is essential to ensure sufficient processing time for visa issuance.

As part of the visa application process, participants will need to undergo biometric registration at the Chinese Embassy located in Kathmandu. This step is crucial for the visa processing and requires the physical presence of each participant. Our team will guide and assist you in completing this requirement efficiently.

To collect your passports after visa issuance, a designated representative from the Alpine Club of Himalaya will manage the passport retrieval process on your behalf. This will ensure that your travel documents are secured and ready for your journey.
