This 8-day Quest for Bird watching in Nepal. Gives you an opportunity to witness several species of birds found in various regions of the country. Nepal is home to 848 species of birds of which around 8% of the world’s species are found here. So the country is considered a paradise for bird lovers and ornithologists. Among them, almost 500 species are found around the Kathmandu valley.

Kathmandu, the capital city of the mountain country, nestles in a large valley surrounded on all sides by a lush network of green hills and dense forests. These forests and hills provide a safe habitat for various species of birds. Pokhara the city of lakes is yet another spot where you can witness various species of native and migratory birds. The southern plains of Terai on the heart of Chitwan National Park are also a paradise for various species of birds.

Quest for Bird watching tour starts from the valley of Kathmandu. Here hike to the highest hill of the valley. Traversing across the dense woodland witness various species of birds around. Next, the quest takes you to the northern outskirts of the valley to Shivapuri National Park. There also witness various species of biodiversity in the region. Next head towards Pokhara and explore the banks of the Phewa Lake. Hiking across the lush canopy and dense forests witnessing several species of birds. At last, the quest takes you to the southern flatlands of the country to Chitwan National Park. At the park participate in various activities and embark on a journey to the heart of the forest and witness species of residential and migratory birds.

Travel Insurance:

All clients participating in any activity must have travel insurance. Personal injury, death, hospital expenditures, repatriation fees, helicopter rescue. Any other disease covered by the insurance plan will be given. We highly advise you to acquire a comprehensive insurance plan from a trustworthy insurance company.

Passport and Visa:

Every client must have a valid passport from the return date with a 6 months prior validity by the Nepalese consulate in your country or immigration office at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu.

Accommodation:

You will be accommodated in 3-star hotels in Kathmandu. In Pokhara, you will be staying at Splendid View Pokhara Hotel. In Chitwan, you will be accommodated in 3-star hotels.

We have the absolute authority to cancel the trip or change the itinerary, when deemed necessary or when we have reason to believe your safety is at stake. Weather conditions, the health condition of a group member, natural disasters, and such, can contribute to changes in the itinerary when traveling in remote mountainous regions. Itinerary

Upon arrival at the Kathmandu, Tribhuvan International Airport. A representative from the Alpine Club of Himalaya will assist you with your accommodation. Upon arriving at your hotel, rest for a while. Later join in for a short briefing regarding the trek. In the evening join in for a special dinner program where you will experience excellent Nepalese cuisine.
Meals: Welcome Dinner

After breakfast head on a short ride towards the southeast outskirts of the valley. Upon reaching Godawari visit the Godawari Botanical Garden. Here witness various species of native flora. After exploring the botanical garden start the hike. Traversing gradually uphill, through subtropical thick forest with miles of undergrowth reach the summit. The hike usually takes around 4-5 hours. From the summit witness grand views of the Kathmandu valley and the lush hills of the Mahabharat range. Along the hike witness several species of biodiversity of the region. Regularly recorded resident species include Besra, Black Eagle, Mountain Hawk-Eagle, Kalij Pheasant, Common Hill Partridge, Ashy Woodpigeon, Wedge-tailed Green Pigeon, Mountain Scops Owl, Collared Owlet, Golden-throated Barbet to name a few and many species of migratory birds too have been known to visit the area. Phulchowki forests are also very rich in flora and butterflies. Mammals include Leopard, Yellow-throated Marten and Orange-bellied Squirrel.
Upon reaching the summit enjoy the grand view of the valley and its neighboring districts. The valley down surrounded by hills like a bowl on the backdrop of the Himalayas. Catch views of the central Himalayan peaks of Jugal Himal, Gaurishanker, and Mt. Everest. After exploring around retrace your steps back to Godawari. Then proceed towards your accommodation.
Meals: Breakfast

After breakfast head on a short drive towards Nagarjun. The drive takes you towards the northern hills about 12 kilometers from Thamel. The region falls under Shivapuri Nagarjun national park. Here traversing across the lush woodland witness the biodiversity of the region. Home to around 250 species of birds. Witness Laughing Thrush, Crested Serpent Eagle, Pied Fly Catchers, Rupy-throats, and Babblers. Also, pheasants, magpies, and sunbirds are found in this region. After exploring around head back towards your accommodation.
Meals: Breakfast

Catch an early morning flight to Pokhara. Along the flight witness grand views of the snowcapped mountains and lush network of rolling hills. Upon reaching Pokhara head towards your accommodation. After a brief rest head on a short drive towards the southern shore of the Phewa lake.
Traversing across the lush woodland you will be rewarded with grand views of mountain peaks and various species of birds. Species regularly seen in this forest and along the shore of the lake include Besra, Red-thighed Falconet, Pallid and Pied Harriers, Eurasian Griffon, Red-headed and Eurasian Black Vultures, Kalij Pheasant and many more.
Meals: Breakfast

From Pokhara, head on towards Chitwan National Park. A famous national park in Asia enlisted by the World Heritage where you’ll have an excellent chance of spotting a wide range of biodiversity including one-horned rhinos, royal Bengal tiger, species of deer, monkeys, leopards, wild elephants, and 450 species of birds. Upon reaching Chitwan and after a brief rest head on following activities.
Chitwan Activities:
13.00: Lunch.
15.00: Village tour to a nearby ethnic Tharu settlement. Where you will learn about the culture and lifestyle of the Tharus. Visit the National Park Visitor’s center where you get insight about the history of the National Park and about wildlife. Later head towards the bank of the Rapti River and enjoy majestic views of the sun setting.
19.00: Tharu cultural dance presentation (which you will also participate in) by the locals.
20.00: Dinner.

06.00: Wake up call.
06.30: Breakfast.
07.00: Head out on Canoe ride along the Rapti River. An excellent opportunity for bird watching. Many species of birds including waterfowl, Brahminy ducks, pintails, bar-headed geese, cormorants, woodpeckers, hornbills, peacocks, peahens, floricans, red-headed trogons, and many others. Also, witness 2 rare species of crocodiles; the Marsh Mugger and the fish-eating Gariyal. Next head on a Jungle Walk. Later if you prefer on the way back you can enjoy the elephant bath.
13.00: Lunch.
15.00: Jeep Safari. An excellent opportunity to see four different kinds of deer, rhinoceros, wild boar, monkey, leopard, sloth bear, and the Royal Bengal Tiger (If you are lucky). You will also encounter many other smaller mammals that have made Chitwan their home.

20.00: Dinner.

Drive to Kathmandu
6:00: Wake up call.
06.30: Breakfast.
07.00: Visit to the Government Elephant Breeding Centre and explore and learn about these beautiful creatures.
10.00: Departure back to Kathmandu.
Upon arriving at Kathmandu head towards your accommodation. In the evening join in for a special farewell dinner to mark the end of your exciting adventure.

Today you will be returning to your country. Alpine Club of Himalaya representative will drop you at the airport.
