Limi Valley Trek – Embark on a culturally immersive and mystifying adventure. Through the high Himalayan terrain of Limi Valley in Nepal’s northwestern region. This 20-day journey unveils the hidden
treasures of remote and isolated rural communities. That has remained largely untouched
for generations. The trek showcases the authentic Tibetan lifestyle and culture. Intertwined with
exotic flora and fauna, amidst the grandeur of Nepal’s and Tibet’s majestic high Himalayas.
The Limi Valley Trek begins with a scenic flight from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj, and further to
Simikot, Humla. The trek starts with an easy hike toward Dharapori. Followed by Kermi, a
Buddhist community settlement, along the Karnali river trail. As you progress towards Yalbang,
the trail becomes increasingly secluded, leading past Muchu village and Tumkot village. Along
the way, soak in the cultural significance of the Gompas and Dzongs, and continue towards Yari
or Thado Dhunga, passing through the small Pani Palwang village.
Then the journey takes you to Hilsa, the first thriving town in Humla. From here, enter Limi
valley. Here visit the smallest settlement of Til and proceed deeper into the mountain country.
Thereafter, continue toward Jang, Limi’s third settlement. From here reach Chagzur Hot Spring.
Followed to Nyalu Base Camp via Nyalu Pass, and to Sheng Jungma, following the remnants of
the old Limi village route. Thereafter the trek culminates with stunning views of Nepalese and
Tibetan mountains on the route to Ding village, where you will witness the breathtaking Zhetse
valley. Lastly, the trek brings you to Simikot. Followed by a flight to Nepalgunj and to
Kathmandu.

- Humla RAP Fee:
USD 50 per person (7 days) + an extra USD 10 per person per day (beyond 7 days)
- Humla Village Development Community Fee:
For all trekkers- USD 10 per person
Meals and drinking water:
In the Limi Valley trek, you’ll be provided with various ethnic cuisines and basic meals. These meals are prepared by the local supplement, every tourist lodge and tea house has a well-trained cook focusing on clean, hygienic, fresh, and delicious foods. The basic carbohydrates include dhindo, rice, roti, and potatoes, which go well with the various traditional cuisine. Popular snacks include locally made dairy items such as cheese, Churpi, and milk-based delicacies.
Similarly, drinking water taps are accessible with natural water supplies which are untreated, so direct use of the water is not recommended, so you may refill boiling water or cold filter water from any of the teahouses. However, if you buy a water purification tablet, chlorine drops or utilize SODIS (sunlight assisted) filtration procedures for further assurance of saving money and reducing plastic pollution.
Accommodation:
Local accommodations are available with minimal facilities, trekking lodges and teahouses are located along the trail, which provide basic meals and limited supplies, these supplies include twin sharing beds and meals. Campsites are also available along the trail with rubbish pits, toilets, and shelters providing a special opportunity for the campers.
Best Time to Visit?
The best season for trekking to Limi Valley is during the season of autumn and spring. The months of September, October, November, April, and May are the best time to visit. These months are better in terms of visibility and climate conditions.
During the autumn season, the months of September, October, and November are the best time for trekking in this region, as the weather is clear with great visibility and the temperature is warm.
The spring season of March, April, and May are also the best time to visit Limi Valley, the end of winter bring change in the topography of the region with varieties of blooming trees, high green pasture lands covered with wildflowers, mild temperatures, and clear weather.
Monsoon season is not favorable as the weather gets harsh and it’s hard to get around the country, so monsoon season is mostly avoided by trekkers.
In winter season the area receives high snowfall, covering most of the trail and access is denied to most of the regions of the valley.
Travel Insurance:
All clients participating in any activity must have travel insurance. Personal injury, death, hospital expenditures, repatriation fees, helicopter rescue, and any other disease covered by the insurance plan will be given, we highly advise you to acquire a comprehensive insurance plan from a trustworthy insurance company.
Passport and Visa
Every client must have a valid passport from the return date with a 6 month prior validity by the Nepalese consulate in your country or the immigration office at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu.

We have the absolute authority to cancel the trip or change the itinerary, when deemed necessary or when we have reason to believe your safety is at stake. Weather conditions, the health condition of a group member, natural disasters, and such, can contribute to changes in the itinerary when traveling in remote mountainous regions. In these extreme situations, we kindly request that you offer your full co-operation to the trusted leader of the group appointed by the Alpine Club of Himalaya.
