Nepal Buddhist Pilgrimage Tour – 7 Days

Kathmandu

Upon arriving at Kathmandu International Airport you will be welcomed by the views of the majestic mountains and verdant hills surrounding the Valley. Once you have done with the immigration our representative will assist you with your accommodation at Thamel. After a brief refreshment break explore Thamel a tourist hub of the region.

In the afternoon join in for orientation regarding the tour. Meet with your tour guide and the rest of the members.

Namo Buddha

After breakfast head on a short drive towards Namo Buddha. The drive takes you following the Arniko highway. Once you reach the base of the hill head on a short hike towards Namo Buddha. Following the tracks of the motorable road through lush woodlands offering majestic views of the landscapes. Along the way pass various villages and witness the daily lifestyle of the locals also start friendly conversations with them and learn about their culture and traditions.

Following the uphill trail across woodlands witness the mystical views of the Stupa covered with layers of fog on a hilltop on the other side. Following the straight track head towards the Stupa. Upon reaching Namo Buddha Stupa, explore the vicinity. The Stupa is the most important Buddhist pilgrimage site in Nepal and the world. Tour the area and witness monks chanting sacred text and indulging in spiritual practices and meditation. Also, witness views of the lush woodlands of central Nepal and snowcapped mountain giants on the backdrop. After exploring and learning about the legends, culture, and lifestyle of the people head back to Kathmandu.

After breakfast head to various Buddhist pilgrimage sites scattered around the valley of Kathmandu.

Swayambhunath Stupa:
The Swayambhunath Stupa has a compelling mix of both Hindu temples and Buddhist shrines and stupas. Showcasing harmony between the two religious groups. Perched on a hill in the western part of the Kathmandu Valley, it is one of the most sacred and oldest pilgrimage sites. Swayambhunath is Dhamek Stupa, an aspect of truth or reality. According to legends, a lotus with a fire bloomed at a tiny pond of Naghdaha. From where it was brought upon these hills and a Stupa was constructed to preserve it. Later the present structure was built. The Stupa is popularly known amongst foreigners as the Monkey Temple as a large monkey population resides in the area. From the Stupa witness grand views of the valley and the greater Himalayan range to the north.

Bouddhanath Stupa:
The Bouddhanath Stupa is one of the largest Stupas in the world. This massive structure stands tall with four pairs of eyes each facing the four cardinal directions, watching for the righteous behavior of mankind and human prosperity. Perched on the ancient trade route to Tibet the stupa is visited by a large number of devotees following Buddhism. Boudha Stupa is a Sararika Stupa as it is built upon the relics of the Kashyap Buddha. The Stupa complex is believed to be a mandala a powerful tool for meditation. A spectacular display of art and architecture of ancient Nepal.

Kapan Monastery:
At the end head towards the Kapan Gumba. Perched on a small hill on the northern side of the valley. The Monastery is popularly known for teaching Buddhism to tourists who seek retreats, learning, studies, and spiritualism.

Lumbini

Catch an early morning flight from the Kathmandu domestic airport towards Bhairahawa. Upon landing at Bhairahawa head towards Lumbini. After a brief rest proceed towards the Lumbini Pilgrimage site.

The holiest Buddhist pilgrimage site of Nepal and the world. Lumbini is regarded as one of the oldest civilizations in South Asia, dating back to 1300 B.C., and is the birthplace of the Gautam Buddha. The Lumbini complex is divided into three sections the Sacred Garden, the Monastic Zone, and the Cultural Center & New Lumbini Village. The vicinity has various monasteries from all over the world.

Explore the holy Mayadevi Temple and the ruins of ancient monasteries, the sacred Bodhi tree, an ancient bathing pond where Buddha had his first bath, and the Ashokan pillar where an inscription about Buddha is written. Next head towards the Monastic Zone where, the eastern part consists of the Theravadin monasteries, and the western wing is dedicated to the Mahayana and Vajrayana monasteries. Explore several monasteries from all over the globe and later head towards the Cultural Center & New Lumbini Village and learn about the rich history of the place. After exploring Lumbini head towards your accommodation and rest.

After breakfast head towards the Lumbini Pilgrimage site and explore the region. Visit various landmarks around and indulge yourself in meditations and spiritual practices.

After breakfast, heads towards the airport and catch a flight to Kathmandu. Upon reaching Kathmandu proceed towards your accommodation and later head out to explore Lama Gaun Tashi Rapten Monastery located on the southern outskirts of the valley. Regarded as a powerful Monastery here learn about the practices of Buddhism. After exploring the Monastery head back to your accommodation in Kathmandu.

Today you will have leisure time till your departure flight. Our representative will drop you at the airport three hours before your flight departs. If you prefer to stay longer, you can consult us for short tours such as National park visits, rafting, mountain biking, Tibet, India, or Bhutan tours, etc.
