We would like to bring to your attention a significant announcement made by The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal concerning the operation of flights to Lukla. In order to alleviate heavy traffic congestion at Kathmandu airport, flights to Lukla will now commence from Ramechhap until further notice.
During peak seasons, specifically in March, April, May, September, October, and November, flights will be scheduled from Ramechhap to Lukla and return to Ramechhap. The Manthali Airport in Ramechhap, located approximately 132 km from Kathmandu, will serve as the departure point for these flights. The travel time from Kathmandu to Ramechhap is estimated to be around 4-5 hours by road, depending on traffic conditions.
As an alternative, we have made arrangements for helicopter transfers on a shared basis, accommodating up to five individuals. To avail yourself of this option, an additional fee of USD 400 per person for a one-way flight is required to change your airplane reservation to a helicopter. We will endeavor to coordinate and form groups at the airport to facilitate this arrangement. However, please note that we cannot guarantee the availability of shared helicopter transfers at all times.
Rest assured that the journey to Ramechhap by road and subsequent flight to Lukla are guaranteed, barring any unforeseen circumstances such as flight cancellations due to adverse weather conditions.
Our team is fully committed to providing you with the necessary support and assistance throughout this transition period. If you have any questions, concerns, or specific requirements, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Warm regards,
