Let’s embark on remote trails of Nepal, tread on lush forests and reach one of the most serene lakes in the world. The Rara Lake 15-days trek begins with visits to UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu followed by a flight to Nepalgunj and then to Jumla. From Jumla, set forth on a journey that promises greater solitude and a chance to be in the presence of the fantastic Rara Lake. It is the highest lake in Nepal and is proudly known by the Nepalese as the Queen of Lakes. During the trek, you will also be entering the Rara National Park which is considered to be one of the finest parks in the world and is an ideal habitat for musk deer, Himalayan black bear, leopard, Himalayan goral, and other exotic animals. During the journey, you will not only be in the presence of snow-capped mountains, forests, and enchanting lakes but will also be amazed by the rustic life of the locals who make this remote land their home.
Physical Condition & Experience Requirements:
Experience is not necessary for taking part in this trek. Anyone fit and healthy enough to walk for 4-6 hours daily can manage well. Also, since this trek takes us to only low altitude in generally good weather with easy access to local amenities even children and the elderly can take part. Exercising and jogging regularly for some weeks prior to the trip is however a good advantage as it enhances strength and stability.
Accommodations:
We will be staying at Alpine Hotel Nepal in Kathmandu, Mount Kailash Resort in Pokhara, and teahouses during the trek. All accommodations are on a twin-shared basis. A single supplement will be served on request and will cost an additional USD350. Alpine Club of Himalaya will arrange rooms with attached washrooms. However, teahouses in some places only have shared washing and toilet facilities. Also, note that single rooms are readily available in Kathmandu and the trekking regions at lower elevation but it might be difficult to find them at higher elevations.
Meals:
During the Rara Lake Trek, you can enjoy Nepali, Tibetan, Indian as well as more common continental cuisines. Breakfast (only) will be provided during your stay in Kathmandu whereas all meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) will be available during the trek and climb. While trekking Rara Lake Trek, breakfast will be taken in the same place we stay the night. Similar arrangements can also be arranged for dinner. Lunch will be taken en route to the next destination. During the climbing session, hygienic and freshly-cooked food will be provided. There will also be welcome and farewell dinners in Kathmandu.
Detail Itineraries
Upon arrival in the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you will be greeted by a representative from Alpine Club of Himalaya who will drop you at our hotel. After check-in, take a rest or stroll around the streets of Thamel. In the evening, there will be a welcome dinner hosted by Alpine Club of Himalaya where you can taste delicious Nepalese cuisine.
