Our Trek Begins

The trip begins in Kathmandu with visits to several cultural heritage sites. Then drive to Chamje the starting point of your trek. From Chamje head towards the biggest villages in the Manang District, Dharapani. Traversing through various agricultural belts, waterfalls across the hills, and a series of villages. From Dharapani follow the trail with views of Lamjung Himal, Annapurna II, and Annapurna IV. Crossing small hot springs to Chame, the headquarters of Manang District in the Gandaki Zone of northern Nepal.

Next, head towards Pisang, and witness the iconic Paungda Danda rock face. From Pisang head towards Manang. The trail is covered with views of Mount Annapurna, Pisang Peak, and other endless peaks. The region has colder and drier and the topography is arid and rocky. Once you reach Manang head towards Barge Monastery, the biggest monastery in the Manang District.

Barge Monastery to Khangsar and then towards Tilicho Lake Base Camp

Now continue the trek up to the village of Khangsar. Visit the Tore monastery one of the ancient monasteries of the region and discover, that virtually every square inch of the building is covered with beautiful design. And head towards Tilicho Lake Base Camp. Where you’ll come across wide grassy fields and witness the glorious views of the mountain valley.

From the Base Camp head towards Tilicho lake with backdrops of Tilicho, Nilgiri, Khangsar, and Muktinath peaks. Explore the lake area and surrounding peaks and head back to the Base camp. Then continue your trek towards Yak Kharka. High Himalayan pastureland and towards Thorang Phedi, the last village before Thorong La pass.

End of Our Trekking

The following day crosses the high mountain pass of Thorong La and descend towards Muktinath. A holy destination for Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims. Then head towards Jomsom where your trek concludes high up the Kali Gandaki Valley. From Jomsom catch a scenic flight to Pokhara the city of Lakes and back to Kathmandu.

Annapurna with Tilicho Lake Trek is the best trek for trekkers who are not just willing to walk on the Annapurna circle trail but also want to reach the serene Tilicho Lake. Be a part of this thrilling adventure with The Alpine Club of Himalaya.

Best Time to Visit?

The best season for trekking to the Annapurna region is during autumn and spring.

The months of September, October, November, March, April, and May are the best time to visit. These months are better in terms of visibility and climate conditions.

During the autumn season, the months of September, October, and November are one of the best time for trekking in this region, as the weather is clear bringing great visibility of the endless mountain ranges and lush green forest with warm temperatures, the nights are clear and is a perfect opportunity for stargazing.

The spring season of March, April, and May is also the best time to visit the Annapurna Region, the end of the winter season brings a change in the region, varieties of colorful blooming trees of the sub-alpine forest, high green pasture lands covered with wildflowers, mild temperatures, and clear weather. In this season you’ll witness herds of sheep and yaks grazing in the green high lands.

Monsoon season is not favorable as the weather gets harsh and it’s hard to get around the country, with frequent rainstorms and landslides. So, monsoon season is mostly avoided by trekkers.

In the winter season, Annapurna Region receives high snowfall covering most of the trails and making it impossible to travel for this reason.
