The Everest Marathon is a highly challenging high-altitude race that requires good physical fitness, endurance, and mental preparation. The full marathon starts at Everest Base Camp (5,364 m), where the thin air, rugged trails, steep sections, and cold mountain weather make running much harder than at lower elevations. Participants should have good cardiovascular fitness and previous trail-running experience. Regular running, uphill training, strength exercises, and long-distance hikes are recommended before the trek. Proper acclimatization is equally important to help the body adjust to high altitude. For the Lobuche East and Everest Marathon participants also need to prepare for the 6,119 m Lobuche East summit, making this adventure more demanding than a regular Everest Base Camp trek.
For the Lobuche East and Everest Marathon participants need to complete the required marathon documentation and obtain the necessary trekking and climbing permits. The main requirements include:
Everest Marathon Entry Form – Completed and signed by the participant.
KYC and Medical Forms – Required for identity verification and health information.
Passport Copy – A clear copy of your valid passport.
Travel Insurance – Must cover medical emergencies, trip delays or interruptions, high-altitude activities, and emergency helicopter evacuation.

Safety is especially important during the Everest Marathon and Lobuche East Peak Climbing due to the high altitude and unpredictable mountain conditions. Proper acclimatization, gradual ascent, hydration, and adequate rest help reduce the risk of altitude sickness. Participants should follow the instructions of experienced guides and report symptoms such as headache, dizziness, nausea, or unusual fatigue immediately. Weather conditions can change quickly, so flexibility is important during the trek and summit climb. Travel insurance covering high-altitude trekking, peak climbing, medical emergencies, and helicopter evacuation is strongly recommended.
