The Gokyo Renjo La Pass Trek can be completed during most trekking seasons in Nepal, but spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) are the best times to visit. These seasons offer stable weather, clear skies, comfortable temperatures, and excellent visibility of the Himalayan peaks.
Spring is one of the most popular seasons for the Gokyo Renjo La Pass Trek. The weather is mild, the days are longer, and the trails are surrounded by blooming rhododendron forests at lower elevations. Clear skies provide outstanding views of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, Ama Dablam, and the beautiful Gokyo Lakes.
Autumn is considered the best trekking season in the Everest region. After the monsoon, the air is fresh, the skies are crystal clear, and the mountain views are at their finest. The pleasant temperatures and stable weather make it an excellent time to cross Renjo La Pass and enjoy panoramic views from Gokyo Ri.
Winter offers peaceful trails and beautiful snow-covered landscapes. The Gokyo Lakes and surrounding mountains create a spectacular winter setting. However, temperatures can drop well below freezing at higher elevations, and heavy snowfall may affect the crossing of Renjo La Pass. Proper winter gear and preparation are essential.
The monsoon season brings frequent rainfall at lower elevations and cloudy conditions throughout much of the trek. Flights to Lukla may experience delays or cancellations due to weather, and trails can become wet and slippery. Although the landscape is lush and green, mountain views are often limited, making this the least popular season for the trek.
All travelers must carry a valid passport with at least six months of validity from the date of entry into Nepal. Most foreign nationals require a tourist visa, which can be obtained either in advance from a Nepalese Embassy or Consulate or upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu.
