Scenic Flight To Mount Everest: Discover the majestic landscapes of the Himalayas flying parallel with the world’s highest range. The scenic flight to mount everest takes you on a tour of the greater Himalayan range. From the comfort of the airplane, witness the close-up views of the icy giants and jagged peaks.
The flight takes off from the Kathmandu domestic airport. As the weather deteriorates in higher elevations as the day proceeds the flight starts early in the morning. The one-hour flight is the perfect way to discover the panoramic view of the Himalayas.
As the aircraft takes off you will be heading towards the eastern section of the country. Once the plane gains elevation witness Gosaithan, also called Shisha Pangma, standing at a majestic height of 8,013 meters/ 26,290 feet. Just at the immediate right of Gosaithan. Dorje Lhakpa appears in its grand state, a mountain that almost looks like a figure 8 lying in the snow at an elevation of 7,000 meters/ 22,000 feet. To the right of Dorje Lakpa is Phurbi-Chyachu, which looms over the Kathmandu Valley. As the plane glides along, you will come closer to the mountains.
The scenic flight will soon reveal the aesthetically pleasing peak of Choba-Bhamare. Although it’s the smallest mountain in the region, locals consider it to hold spiritual significance. Because of this reverence, climbing is prohibited, making it one of the unclimbed peaks in the region. Then appears the peaks of Gauri-Shanker, a mountain that is not only prominent in sight but has legends and stories behind it. Wrapped in myth and legend, this mountain is said to be guarded by the Hindu deity Lord Shiva and his consort Gauri. The tour then takes you onwards to witness the majestic Melungtse and Chugimago peaks. While Melungtse has likely felt the tread of many an explorer, Chugimago remains unclimbed, a true challenge for those seeking to conquer new heights.
As, you progress deeper into the mountain range, witness Numbur, and Karyolung, with its peak covered with intense white snow shining to the morning rays of the sun. Next, you will be passing Cho-Oyu, the sixth highest mountain in the world, which nestles at an elevation of 8,201 meters/ 27,000 feet.
Witness, the mountain peaks of Gyachungkang, Pumori, and Nuptse, each over 7,000 meters/ 22,000 feet in elevation. Following this mountain chain, you will come across the highest mountain of them all: Mount Everest. Mount Everest sits like a pyramid covered in a blanket of snow. The peak is locally known as Sagarmatha by the Nepalese and Chomolungma by the Tibetans. The jagged peak sits at an elevation of 8,849 meters/ 29032 feet dwarfing all the peaks around. Get a closer look at the highest point of the Earth. Along with the flight witness other various mountain peaks and views of the grand landscapes.
The best times to catch the glimpse of the sparkling peaks are the months of winter from September to April. This is the time when the white snow sparkles brightly across the mountains, with lakes and glaciers equally beaming with clear water flowing down from the Himalayas.
Nothing compares to the sheer beauty that the Himalayas has to offer.
