Panchase Trek is one of the exotic and most unique short trekking destinations in the classic trails of the Annapurna region of Nepal, it’s raw and wild here providing an off-beaten and relaxed experience without much buzz of tourism. Panchase trek takes you to a maximum elevation of 2500 meters across the hills of the Mahabharat range offering magnificent mountains views of Annapurna Himal, Dhaulagiri Himal, Manaslu Himal, Ganesh Himal, Machhapuchhre, Himchuli, and other Himalayan giants along the trail, where you’ll get a sense of the entirety of landscape and compliment that with the people living there. Heaven in its own term remained unseen by most people.
Starting of our Journey
Panchase Trek starts with a boat trip across the Phewa Lake towards the base of the World Peace Pagoda after a short climb to the Pagoda head towards the settlement of Bhumdi, from Bhumdi the trail passes through the lush, rich, deep wilderness and impenetrable jungles towards Panchase Bhanjyang at an elevation of 2164 meters/ 7100 feet above ocean level. The path follows dotted settlements with lush green slopes of terrace farming, paddy fields, and an agriculture belt with sprawling lands. Following the trail, you’ll reach the summit of Panchase at an elevation of 2500 meters/ 8202 feet passing unbeatable Landscapes, total wildness, settlements of different ethnical groups, untouched biodiversity, and a natural heritage site with the Himalayan giants on the backdrop, making it a perfect opportunity for any photographers.
The majestic snowy peaks of Machhapuchhre, Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, Lamjung, Gangapurna, and Manaslu come into view as you hike the Panchase Summit, considered one of the best vantage points in the region. The trail traverses across a protected forest teeming with a variety of rhododendrons and more than 100 species of orchids. Wildlife, birds, and various species of herbs can also be found along the way.
The trek attracts both Hindu pilgrims seeking a spiritual journey and trekkers looking for a short adventure. It holds significance for religious followers while also offering a perfect escape for those who enjoy hiking. Discover the culture and nature at their best in this short trek.
Meals and drinking water:
Along the Annapurna Region Trek, you’ll be provided with various Nepali, Tibetan ethnic cuisines and varieties of continental as well as western meals. The local inhabitants run a number of tea-houses along the trail, offering basic to luxury facilities. These tea-houses provide trekkers with the opportunity to taste various cuisines, a rarity on most Nepali trekking trails.
Annapurna Region is a plastic-free zone and has banned the use of bottled Mineral Water. While untreated natural water supplies are accessible from taps along the trekking trail, direct consumption is not recommended. Instead, you can refill your bottles with boiling water or cold filtered water at any of the teahouses along the trail.
If you buy a water purification tablet, chlorine drops or utilize SODIS (sunlight assisted) filtration procedures for further assurance, saving money, and reducing plastic pollution.
Accommodation:
Tourist-friendly hotels, lodges, and local accommodations are available on trekking trails and, providing with basic accommodation to luxury and grandeur ones. The trail itself caters to various budgets by offering a mix of luxurious hotels and cozy teahouses. These accommodations provide all the comforts you crave after a long day of trekking, including plush beds with pillows, electric blankets for chilly nights, hot and cold showers to refresh you, and even free Wi-Fi to stay connected.
Teahouse along Annapurna region provides you with hot shower, western attached bathrooms and the rooms mostly include twin sharing beds as well as a single bed, with hygienic and clean atmosphere, good mattresses, a pillow, and blankets.
Campsites are also available along the trail providing a special opportunity for campers to sleep under the stars.
Best Time to Visit?
The best season for trekking to Annapurna Region is during the season of autumn and spring.
The months of September, October, November, March, April, and May are the best time to visit. These months are better in terms of visibility and climate conditions.
During the autumn season, the months of September, October, and November are one of the best times for trekking in this region, as the weather is clear bringing great visibility of the endless mountain ranges and lush green forest with warm temperatures, the nights are clear and is a perfect opportunity for stargazing.
The spring season of March, April, and May is also the best time to visit the Annapurna Region, the end of the winter season brings a change in the region, varieties of colorful blooming trees of the sub-alpine forest, high green pasture lands covered with wildflowers, mild temperatures, and clear weather. In this season you’ll witness herds of sheep and yaks grazing in the green high lands.
Monsoon season is not favorable as the weather gets harsh and it’s hard to get around the country, with frequent rainstorms and landslides. So monsoon season is mostly avoided by trekkers.
In the winter season, Annapurna Region receives high snowfall covering most of the trails and making it impossible to travel for this reason.
Detail Itineraries
After an early breakfast, head out to Phewa Lake and take a boat trip towards the base of World Peace Pagoda, after a short ascend you'll witness views of stunning mountains peaks, Phewa Lake, and the city below. From here the trail continues on a steep climb through the mixtures of rhododendron forest and orchid-draped trees towards the village of Lukum Swara, then continues towards Bumdi village. Once you reach Bumdi head towards your accommodation.
