Conclude your journey in the picturesque lakeside city of Pokhara, a haven of natural beauty.
Whether you're a first-time visitor to Nepal or a returning traveler looking to go deeper into the country’s central heartlands, this tour offers an enriching and comfortable experience, with professional guidance, scenic drives, and cultural immersion at every step.
Best Time to Visit Central Nepal
The best time to visit Central Nepal is during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) seasons. These months offer the most favorable weather conditions for travel, sightseeing, and outdoor activities.
In spring, the hills are covered in blooming rhododendrons, and the temperatures are mild, making it an ideal time for jungle safaris in Chitwan and sunrise viewing in Nagarkot and Pokhara.
Autumn is widely regarded as the peak travel season in Nepal. With clear skies, fresh air, and minimal rainfall, this season offers the clearest views of the Himalayas. It's also a culturally rich time, as major festivals like Dashain and Tihar take place.
While winter (December to February) is cooler, especially in hill stations like Nagarkot, it’s still a good time to visit due to fewer crowds and sunny days. Summer (June to August), or the monsoon season, brings heavy rains and lush landscapes, though transportation and visibility may be affected.
Meals During the Tour
During the 7-day Central Nepal tour, meals are thoughtfully provided to ensure both comfort and local culinary experiences.
- In Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Nagarkot, breakfast is included at your hotel. You’ll find a mix of continental and Nepali options, such as eggs, toast, fruits, yogurt, and traditional dishes like sel roti or curried potatoes.
- While in Chitwan National Park, you’ll enjoy full board meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner). Meals are served at the jungle lodge or resort, often featuring freshly prepared Nepali, Indian, and international cuisines.
- On your first and last night in Kathmandu, enjoy a welcome and farewell dinner at a local restaurant, where you’ll be introduced to authentic Nepali dishes such as momo (dumplings), dal bhat (lentils and rice), and traditional desserts.
Vegetarian and special dietary requirements can be catered to with advance notice.
Drinking Water Safety
During your stay in Nepal, safe drinking water is essential, especially when traveling through different elevations and climates.
We recommend not drinking tap water directly. Instead, opt for bottled mineral water, which is readily available in hotels, restaurants, and shops throughout the tour route. In remote areas like Chitwan and Nagarkot, your accommodation may provide filtered or boiled water.
For eco-conscious travelers, carrying a reusable water bottle with a built-in filter or water purification tablets is a great option. Tour guides will also advise on where safe water is available. All water provided during meals at reputable hotels and lodges will be clean and safe to drink.
Accommodation
The Central Nepal tour includes comfortable, well-rated accommodations selected for their location, cleanliness, and hospitality.
- In Kathmandu, you’ll stay in a centrally located hotel with modern amenities and easy access to cultural sites.
- In Nagarkot, accommodation is chosen for its proximity to sunrise viewpoints and panoramic Himalayan views.
- In Chitwan National Park, you’ll stay at a jungle lodge or resort, offering rustic charm and access to wildlife activities. Rooms come with private bathrooms and often include balconies or garden views.
- In Pokhara, your hotel will be located near Phewa Lake, offering stunning mountain views and easy access to lakeside cafes and attractions.
All accommodations provide free Wi-Fi, private bathrooms, daily breakfast, and 24-hour hot water. Higher-end hotel upgrades are available upon request.
Transportation: Flights and Private Vehicles
Transportation throughout the tour is comfortable, efficient, and arranged to enhance your overall travel experience.
- Private Vehicle: All ground transportation is by private, air-conditioned vehicles with experienced drivers. This includes hotel transfers, intercity drives (Kathmandu–Nagarkot–Chitwan–Pokhara–Kathmandu), and local sightseeing trips. Vehicles range from cars to tourist vans or buses, depending on group size.
- Domestic Flights (Optional): While the default itinerary includes road travel for scenic views, optional domestic flights (e.g., Pokhara to Kathmandu) can be arranged for travelers who prefer shorter travel times or wish to avoid long drives. Flights are operated by reliable Nepali airlines and typically take about 25–30 minutes between Kathmandu and Pokhara.
All transfers and logistics are managed by The Alpine Club of Himalaya to ensure smooth, timely, and hassle-free travel throughout your journey.
Travel Insurance
Travel insurance is strongly recommended for all participants joining the Central Nepal Tour. Although this tour does not involve high-altitude trekking, it includes outdoor activities such as wildlife safaris, nature walks, and overland travel through various regions. A comprehensive travel insurance policy provides essential coverage for unexpected medical emergencies, trip cancellations or interruptions, lost or stolen personal belongings, and accidents that may occur during the tour. Emergency evacuation coverage is also advisable, especially if you're visiting remote areas. Travelers are encouraged to purchase travel insurance prior to departure from a trusted provider in their home country. Make sure your policy specifically covers travel in Nepal and includes any planned adventure or nature-based activities to ensure complete peace of mind throughout your journey.
Passport and Visa
All international travelers, except citizens of India, must hold a valid passport with at least six months’ validity from the date of entry into Nepal. A tourist visa is required for entry and is available through multiple channels. Visitors can obtain a visa on arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, apply in advance through a Nepalese embassy or consulate, or complete an online application using the official Nepal Immigration website. It is advisable to carry a few passport-sized photographs and bring sufficient cash in a major currency, such as US dollars, as card payments may not be accepted at all visa counters. As immigration policies can change, it is best to consult your nearest Nepalese consulate or visit the official immigration website before travel to ensure you have the latest entry requirements.
