Discover the heart of Nepal through a deeply immersive and culturally rich journey with the Nepal Homestay Tour – 7 Days, crafted by Alpine Club of Himalaya. This unique travel experience takes you beyond the usual tourist trails into the scenic village of Barpak, nestled in the northern region of Gorkha district at an altitude of 1,900 meters. Known for its breathtaking mountain views, warm Gurung hospitality, and traditional lifestyle, Barpak is home to over 1,200 households and is a shining example of rural Nepalese culture combined with modern amenities.

This homestay tour allows travelers to live alongside local families, offering firsthand exposure to Nepal’s village life, customs, and day-to-day activities. Guests can participate in farming, learn about traditional cooking, enjoy local music and dance, and explore the surrounding natural beauty. Despite its rural setting, Barpak is equipped with electricity, internet connectivity, health services, and educational facilities—making your stay both comfortable and enlightening.

Ideal for solo travelers, families, or small groups looking for a short but meaningful cultural holiday in Nepal, this 7-day tour blends community-based tourism, eco-friendly travel, and scenic exploration. Whether you're interested in Nepalese traditions, rural life, Gurung culture, or simply a peaceful getaway with genuine local interaction, this homestay experience offers an unforgettable glimpse into Nepal’s soul—all with the support and guidance of Alpine Club of Himalaya.

Best Time to Visit

The Nepal Homestay Tour in Barpak can be enjoyed throughout the year, making it a flexible and accessible cultural getaway. Thanks to its moderate altitude of 1,900 meters and favorable weather conditions, Barpak remains pleasant in all seasons. Whether you're looking to escape the summer heat or enjoy clear winter skies with Himalayan views, this village offers a welcoming environment year-round.

Cultural and Natural Significance

Barpak is a culturally vibrant village inhabited primarily by the Gurung community, known for their hospitality and deep-rooted traditions. Visitors are welcomed with warm smiles, traditional mala (flower garlands), and lively cultural dances performed by locals dressed in traditional attire. The village holds a special place in Nepal’s history and culture, being the epicenter of the 2015 earthquake, and has since been beautifully rebuilt with community resilience. Surrounded by lush hills, terraced farms, and panoramic views of the Ganesh Himal range, Barpak offers both cultural depth and natural beauty in one destination.

Accommodation

During the homestay tour, guests stay in locally run family homes that have been adapted to offer clean and comfortable lodging without compromising the authenticity of village life. Rooms are simple yet cozy, with basic furnishings, clean bedding, and access to shared bathroom facilities. Staying with a host family provides a genuine insight into everyday life and fosters meaningful cultural exchange.

Meals

One of the highlights of the Nepal Homestay Tour is the opportunity to enjoy traditional Nepali cuisine. Meals are home-cooked using fresh, organic ingredients sourced from local farms. Typical dishes include dal bhat (lentil soup with rice), seasonal vegetables, homemade pickles, and local delicacies like sel roti or millet bread. Sharing meals with your host family adds to the warmth and authenticity of the experience.

Transportation

Transportation is arranged by Alpine Club of Himalaya to ensure a comfortable journey. A direct private or shared vehicle is provided from Kathmandu to Barpak, offering scenic views along the way. During the rainy season, access may be limited due to road conditions, but alternate transportation solutions are arranged as needed to maintain safety and reliability.
