This Eco-Community Cultural Trek acquaints you with beautiful rhododendron forests, sacred Hindu temples, and lush farmlands with stunning views of the Annapurna. Also, this is a community-based trip where you will be staying in community-managed lodges/hotels. A perfect opportunity to learn about the culture and traditions of the people.

The Eco-Community Cultural Trek is the perfect trip to get around the country. Witnessing the wonders of nature and learning about the culture and traditions of various ethnic groups. Visiting various destinations and staying in community houses, experiencing the true beauty of the people.

The trek starts with a long drive from Kathmandu toward Pokhara. From Pokhara head towards the Galeshwor Temple, an ancient temple nestled on a single rock dedicated to the Hindu God, Lord Shiva. From here trekking across the deep wilderness, reach the scenic village of Banskharka perched in the heart of beautiful rhododendron forests. The next day, witnessing splendid views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges and reach the village of Dandakateri. Then head to the Nangi Village. The following day explore the sacred forests that nestle several
Hindu temples, visit high-altitude farms and cottage industries, as well as vegetable seed production areas. After exploring Nangi next head towards Mohare Danda located at an altitude of 3,313 meters. From here witness grand views of the lush woodlands and the Himalayas. The following day witnesses grand views of the sunrise. The views of deep gorges, valleys on the verge of a steep ridge, and pristine views of the Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, and Machhapuchhre are breathtaking. After exploring the region retrace your steps back to Nangi and eventually to Pokhara. From Pokhara head towards Kathmandu.

Itinerary

kathmandu
Kathmandu

Upon arrival at the Kathmandu, Tribhuvan International Airport. A representative from the Alpine Club of Himalaya will assist you with your accommodation. Upon arriving at your hotel, rest for a while. In the evening join in for a special dinner program where you will experience excellent Nepalese cuisine.

pashupatinath temple

After breakfast, head on for a full-day sightseeing tour of the Kathmandu Valley. First head towards Durbar (Palace) Square, the epicenter of religious and cultural life, an area filled with old temples and historical significance with glorious old Newari architecture. Some of the sights include Kal Bhairav, Hanuman Dhoka, Taleju Temple, Kasthamandap, and Kumari Ghar; home to the Living Goddess. Afterward, visit Swayambhunath Stupa, one of the oldest Buddhist stupas in the world, which is majestically set high on a hill overlooking Kathmandu Valley.

Thereafter proceed towards Pashupatinath Temple, a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. This massive temple complex sits alongside the banks of the holy Bagmati River. Only Hindus are allowed to enter the courtyard of the temple, whereas tourists can see the temple from the eastern side of the River. Later visit Bouddhanath, a Buddhist Stupa which is one of the largest in the world. This massive structure stands tall with four pairs of eyes each facing the four cardinal directions, watching for the righteous behavior of mankind and human prosperity. After exploring the valley head towards your accommodation. Later join in for a brief orientation regarding the trek.

pokhara
Pokhara: Phewa Lake

After breakfast head on a long drive towards Pokhara. Following the twisted roads of the Prithvi Highway along the rapids of the Trishuli and Marsyangdi rivers.
Upon reaching Pokhara after a brief rest head out to explore the wonders of the city. The city has various attractions that you can choose from. Visit the deep narrow gorge of the roaring Seti River, Davi’s fall a renowned waterfall of the region, and further explore the networks of Gupteshwar Cave and the Bat Cave. After exploring the wonders of the city next stroll the banks of Phewa Lake and witness grand views of the Himalayas. In the evening visit various pubs and restaurants in the region.

Galeshwor Temple

After breakfast head towards Galeshwor Temple. The ancient temple nestled on a single rock is dedicated to the Hindu God, Lord Shiva. After exploring the temple complex and learning about the legends and traditions head towards Banskharka. Following the Annapurna trail traversing across the deep wilderness, you will reach the scenic village of Banskharka.
This village is nestled in the heart of beautiful rhododendron forests and with various streams flowing through it. Stroll around the village and explore the various mandarins and oranges farms around. Also, try out various honey products of the region. After exploring the village head towards your community manage lodge and get an insight into the lives of the locals.

After breakfast head on a sightseeing of the village. The village has various points perfect for witnessing the sunrise. After witnessing sunrise explore the citrus farms of the region and try various products. Start conversations with the farmers learning about their ancient practices. In the afternoon attend a cultural program. Try various local delicacies and dance with the locals.

After breakfast start your trek towards Dandakateri. The short trek takes you across the lush and deep woodlands of the region. Along the trail witness splendid views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. Upon reaching the village, leave your heavy backpacks and head out to explore. Start friendly conversations with the locals and try the various local cuisines of the region.

nangi village
Nangi Village

Today you will be heading towards the Nangi Village. There are two routes to reach the village. One takes you on higher routes traversing along pine and rhododendron forests with views of beautiful landscapes. The other one takes you across flat grounds, on lesser altitude routes. You can ask you guide for advice.
Upon reaching the village head towards your community-managed lodge. After a brief rest head out to experience yet another cultural show. Enjoy various cultural dances and learn about the culture and traditions of the people. Enjoy locally made food and millet liquor.

Today you will be exploring the village. Nangi village is situated at the height of 2330 meters in a valley surrounded by sacred forests that nestles several Hindu temples. Visit a few of the ancient temples, visit high-altitude farms and cottage industries, Sitka mushroom farms, as well as vegetable seed production areas. Also, learn about the rich cultural heritage of the region.

mohare danda
Mohare Danda

After breakfast head on towards the Mohare Danda. Along the way witness the breathtaking mountain scenery. The trail to Mohare Danda takes you on steep inclines on a well-maintained series of stony stairs. Located at an altitude of 3313 meters, from here witnessing grand views of the landscapes. Upon reaching Mohare Danda head towards the community-managed lodge. After a brief rest head out to witness the grand views during the sunset from the porch of your accommodation.

Wake up before dawn and following the ridge section head towards a vantage point. From here witness grand views of the sunrise and the deep gorges, valleys on the verge of a steep ridge, and pristine views of the Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, and Machhapuchhre. Soaking in the grand views head back to your accommodation. After a brief rest retrace your steps back to Nangi, following the downward trails.

pokhara
Pokhara: Phewa Lake

After breakfast head towards Mallaj Lekhphant. Traversing across beautiful hill and lush woodlands with grand views of the landscapes. Upon reaching Mallaj Lekhphant explore the village. Next, head on a short drive towards Pokhara. Once you reach Pokhara head towards your hotel and later head out to explore the banks of Phewa Lake.

Wake up before and head towards Sarangkot. A renowned vantage point of the region. From here witness the grand views of the sunrise. The rays of the sun change the snow-white peaks of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges into an array of colors. After witness sunrise head back and have your breakfast. Next head on a guided tour of the city, the city has various attractions to visit. Visit Davis Falls a unique waterfall that flows directly into a narrow and deep canal on the heart of the city. Next head towards a Shiva Cave located near Davis Fall which houses a shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva, a primary Hindu God. After that head towards the Phewa Lake, the largest lake in Pokhara, and visit Bindyabasini Temple located at the center of the lake. Followed by a visit to the famous International Mountain Museum (IMM). Here learn about the past and present development of mountaineering activities in the world and the Himalayas in particular. After exploring the city head out to explore the pubs and restaurants of the region.

After breakfast, bid goodbye to the beautiful northern skyline of Pokhara and drive towards Kathmandu. Following the Marsyangdi and Trishuli rivers head towards Kathmandu. Upon reaching Kathmandu head towards your accommodation and rest. In the evening attend a farewell dinner program to mark the end of your trek.

Today you will have leisure time till your departure flight. Alpine Club of Himalaya representative will drop you at the airport three hours before your flight departs. If you prefer to stay longer, you can consult us for short tours such as National park visits, rafting, mountain biking, Tibet, India, or Bhutan tours, etc.

    We booked Eco- community cultural trek with the recommendation of my friend. During this trek We have exposed to beautiful rhododendron forests, sacred Hindu temples, lakes with stunning views of the Annapurna, very closely. This is Also a community based trip where we stayed in community managed lodges/hotels where we had interaction with the locals and learnt about their beautiful cultural and traditional. We enjoyed the local food. Highly recommended.
